The words this documentation uses, in one place. Buttons, modes and settings are written the way the interface labels them.
| Term | In the UI | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Pivot | Virtual Pivot | A temporary point that SuperPlacer transforms the selection around. While you work, it is the parent of the selected actors. The pivot stored in an asset or an actor doesn't change. |
| Gizmo | Translate, Rotate, Scale | The viewport widget with axes, rings and cubes that you drag to move, rotate or scale the selection. |
| Quick mode | Quick | A mode in which the selection follows the mouse, with no handle to grab. |
| Direct Manipulation | Direct Manipulation | Dragging an actor by its body instead of the gizmo. |
| Edit Pivot | Edit Pivot | A mode in which only the pivot moves and the actors stay in place. |
| Bounds | Bounds | The bounding box of an actor or of the selection. In Edit Pivot the anchors sit on it; Shift+C switches it between the object's axes and the world axes. |
| Anchor | Anchor | A point of the bounds where you can put the pivot: a corner, the middle of an edge, the centre of a face, the centre. Origin, the actor's own pivot, is a separate anchor. |
| Origin | Origin | The actor's own pivot. The Origin anchor in Edit Pivot and the Origin value of the P dropdown put the pivot there. See Bounds anchors. |
| Locked anchor | Locked | The number of an anchor the pivot goes to on every new selection. See Locking an anchor. |
| Saved pivot | Saved | A pivot stored on the actor itself: its position and rotation relative to the actor. It moves with the actor. See Saving the pivot on an actor. |
| Socket | Saved pivots | A saved pivot used as a docking point: with Ctrl an object snaps to it with both its position and its rotation. See Saved pivots as sockets. |
| Snapping | Snapping | Pulling a value to a grid, angle or scale step, or to a vertex or an anchor of a nearby object. |
| Axis constraint | Constraint | Keeping a move to the chosen axis or plane. |
| RayHit | Ray Hit Mode | A mode in which the selection slides over the surface under the cursor in Quick (F8). See Ray Hit Mode. |
| N-Pivot | Surface Normal Tilt | Tilting the pivot, and the selection with it, to the surface normal (N). See Tilting the pivot to the surface normal. |
| N-Point | Align Points To Surface Normal | Aligning every actor to the normal of its own surface during Directional Drop (Shift+N). See Directional Drop. |
| Coordinate system | World, Local, Parent, Saved, Custom | The axes the gizmo works along: the world axes, the actor's own axes, the axes of its parent, the axes of the pivot saved on the actor or axes you set. |
| Touch&Type | Touch&Type | Entering an exact value: touch an element or make a gesture, then type a number. |
| Transform Each | Transform Each | A mode in which a gesture applies to every selected actor around its own pivot. |
| Directional Drop | Directional Drop | Dropping the selection onto surfaces along a direction, with a preview and a confirmation. |
| Distribute | Distribute | Laying several actors out in a grid that takes their sizes into account. See Distribute. |
| Handle | Handle | A viewport marker you drag to change one parameter: a light's size, a cone angle, a spline tangent. |
| Stripe UI | — | The row of SuperPlacer buttons along the top edge of the viewport. |
| Column UI | — | The column of SuperPlacer buttons at the left edge of the viewport: sleep, Quick, the three gizmos, Edit Pivot. |
| Sleep | Master Sleep | A state in which SuperPlacer passes all input through to the editor. Shift+CapsLock turns it on and off. |
